The story of Tenuta Mara began on a day in which a man who had already experienced many shades of success decided to embark on a new adventure, dedicating this adventure to his wife Mara. The non interventional choice: GRAPES AND WINE ACCORDING TO NATURE

Minimize human intervention; stubbornly seek spontaneity because nature knows better than we do. This is the non interventional Biodynamic choice, which we have decided to adopt. We cultivate the vine according to the lunar and planetary calendar, and in place of fertilizers we treat the land with natural preparations of vegetable and animal origin. The rest is left to the thousands of microorganisms that live in the earth and that keep the earth full of life. The respect we have for nature also accompanies us in the process of transforming grapes into wine. We don’t take any short cuts: enological synthetic and corrective products are not used and will never be used at Tenuta Mara. We leave it to the earth and the stars to measure the rhythms’. After carefully tasting the wine we bottle only the best.

MaraMia 2012, fruit of the third grape harvest of Tenuta Biodinamica Mara, is mentioned in the Yearbook of the Best Italian Wines 2014 by Luca Maroni, who reviewed it as the best biodynamic red wine of the year.

Wine Features

Grapes Used: 100% Sangiovese
Vinification: The grapes are carefully selected by hand on long sorting tables. The grapes reach the vats by natural gravity flow: where the must concludes the fermentation, macerating on the skins fro approximately a month without temperature control or the addition of selected yeasts.
Ageing: The wine evolves, on its fine lees, for 12 months in small tonneau barrels in French oak. Aged in the bottle for 6 moths.
Vintage: 2012
Alcohol: 13.5%
Bottle Size: 0,75l
Colour: Luminous immense ruby red.
Taste: The mouth-feel is full and round with thick elegant tannins.
Aroma: Full-bodied and rich immediately reminding of Romagna and Sangiovese. A hint of wild strawberries and ginger, with balsamic notes and a subtle almond finish.
