Nero d’Avola is Sicily’s most widely-planted red grape variety, and takes its name from the town of Avola. A tasty grape on its own, it also has been used by generations of winemakers to lend color and body to lesser varieties.

Half of the Baglio del Sole vineyard is devoted to Nero d’Avola, and work is ongoing to restore a spectacular 18th-century baglio (rural house) that sits on the property. An on-site resort also is planned. But for now, the wine does all the talking for the estate, and it’s talk that’s worth a listen.

The world has now discovered Nero d’Avola, the problematic prince of Sicilian wines and the most difficult variety to find in true purity.

This wine is a pure selection of 100% Nero d’Avola grape with the objective to achieve a high quality wine through the excellence and pureness of this native vine.
